Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge

Welcome to the audio guide for the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, one of the most impressive suspension bridges in Istanbul that you can see from your Bosphorus cruise.

The bridge is named after Sultan Mehmed II, who conquered Constantinople in 1453 and became known as Fatih Sultan Mehmed. The Fatih Sultan Mehmed Bridge is an important symbol of Istanbul's modernity and engineering prowess.

The bridge spans the Bosphorus Strait, connecting the European and Asian sides of Istanbul. It was completed in 1988 and is over 1,500 meters long, with a main span of 1,090 meters. At its highest point, the bridge towers over the Bosphorus at a height of 64 meters.

As you pass under the bridge, you'll see the impressive cables that hold up the roadway and the iconic towers that anchor the bridge to the land on either side. The bridge is also beautifully illuminated at night, creating a stunning spectacle for visitors to the city.

The Fatih Sultan Mehmed Bridge is an essential part of Istanbul's infrastructure, allowing for easy transportation and commerce between the two sides of the city. It also offers incredible views of the Bosphorus and the city skyline, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
