Hunkar Pavilion is a structure was built in 17th century. It was built by Safiye Sultan, granddaughter of Suleiman the Magnificent, one of the greatest leaders of the Ottoman Empire, and the wife of Murat III. So, why do you think it was built? This place was specially built for sultan and his family to rest, worship and stay when they came to the New Mosque to worship.
There is a special passageway next to the pavilion to reach the New Mosque. Walls are covered by tiles was made by a secret technique and plant motifs and inscriptions on them. There is a special area for the queen mother and sultan’s servants in the middle of the pavilion.
