Hanging Incense Burner (Great Seljuk Period, Afghanistan, Late 12th Century - Early 13th Century)

This stunning hanging incense burner, originating from the Great Seljuk Period in Afghanistan during the late 12th to early 13th century, is a magnificent example of brass craftsmanship using the hollow casting technique. Resembling the body of a pigeon with the beak of a bird of prey, the incense burner features a worm-shaped curved handle and a hanging ring. A similar piece is displayed at the Berlin Museum of Islamic Art, attesting to its significance and artistry.
