Silver Incense Burner (Ottoman Period)

Dating back to the Ottoman Period and bearing the date 1033 (1624), this silver incense burner is inscribed with "Sultan Osman's maid (nanny) Havva Kadin." Featuring a three-legged round tray created using the casting technique, the incense burner includes a cypress-shaped cover attached to the firebox with hinges and chains. The cover is intricately perforated, and the cypress motifs are designed to imitate nature, reflecting the principles of Islamic art. The cypress tree, believed to be protective and bring good luck, serves as the inspiration for the burner's design.
